ARTIST STATEMENT
Matt J Wilkinson is a visual artist based in Blackpool and Manchester, UK.
Predominantly working with photography and installation design, a key interest lies in going against white cube aesthetic and challenging the space in which he exhibits. 
​Working with/against a space’s framework informs Wilkinson’s practice and development of ideas, both in creating new and re-imagining old work. Pushing forward the notion that installation design is an aesthetic medium and cultural practice in it’s self. Interests lie in playfully adapting scale and re-contextualising imagery through multi media installations. Wilkinson is a former member of MILK Collective & Slugtown Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne; who has exhibited works regionally and across the UK.  He is/has been the official exhibition photographer for Slugtown Gallery, MILK Collective, Abingdon Studios Project space, Grundy Art Gallery and Harris Museum, UK.
